The Jobber
Christy works on several vintage letterpresses, creating paper goods with personality. "Blue" is a rare J.M. Jones Lightning Jobber printing press, circa 1897, which is completely person-powered. Made from heavy cast iron, it's operated with a foot treadle and a big, beautiful flywheel. Paper is inserted by hand, once piece at a time, and each ink color is a separate pass through the press.

The Windmills
Christy also operates two Heidelberg Windmill presses, one from 1954 and one from 1957. They are motorized presses that can print larger pieces much faster than the jobber press, and they are machine-fed rather than hand-fed. They are ideal for printing larger quantities, diecutting, and hot foil stamping. The Windmill press gets its name from the two paper grippers which spin around like a windmill, moving the paper in and out of the press one sheet at a time.

Materials
Christy's workspace is full of inspiring materials. From specialty papers, to colorful inks, to luxurious ribbons, there is a lot to see when visiting the Inkello studio.
Inky Inspiration
Color, pattern and texture inform Christy's work — she's inspired by the infinite hues and repetitive elements in our visual world. Inks are mixed by hand and applied one color at a time on the letterpress.

Traditional Typesetting
In addition to printing modern designs printed with custom computer-generated dies, Christy can also hand-set old-fashioned type. She personalizes paper goods letter by letter with a large and growing collection of vintage metal and wood type.
